Skool Ride Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 September 2026

Skool Ride is a school transportation service that lets parents follow a child's journey to and from school in real time. Because the service exists to keep children safe in transit, it necessarily handles information about children and the live location of the vehicles carrying them. This policy explains what is collected, why, who can see it, and how to have it removed.

Who controls your data

Your child's school is the organisation you enrol with, and it decides which drivers and staff are connected to your child. Skool Ride operates the platform that stores this information and makes it available to those people. Questions about a particular school's decisions should go to that school; questions about the platform itself can come to us at support@skoolride.app.

Information we collect

Account details. Your full name, phone number, and — if you provide one — an email address and profile photo. Passwords are stored only as a cryptographic hash, never in a form we can read. We also record your role (parent, driver, or school administrator) and the school you belong to.

Information about children. When a parent enrols a child we collect the child's full name, age, gender, grade, pickup and drop-off addresses with their map coordinates, and any notes the parent chooses to add. This information is supplied by the parent or the school, never collected from the child directly, and children do not have their own accounts.

Location. While a trip is active, the driver's app sends the vehicle's position to our servers so that connected parents can watch its progress. Parents may also save a home location, and drivers a base location, so that routing is accurate. Location is collected from a driver's device only while the trip screen is in use; the app does not track drivers in the background when it is closed.

Driver verification records. Drivers provide a licence number, national identification number, vehicle plate and description, and photographs of the licence, national identity document, vehicle, and emergency kit. Schools and platform administrators review these before approving a driver.

Payment records. Schools submit receipts for subscription payments, which platform administrators review. We do not process card payments and do not store card numbers or bank credentials.

Service records. Trip history, pickup confirmations, notifications, and administrative activity logs, kept so that a journey can be reconstructed if a question arises about it.

Why we use it

We use this information to operate the service and for no other purpose: to show parents where a vehicle is during a trip, to let schools assign children to drivers and vehicles, to allow schools and platform administrators to verify that a driver is who they claim to be, to notify you about your child's journey, and to keep the service secure and working.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or behavioural targeting, and we do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers.

Who can see it

Access is limited to the people who need it for a child's transport. A parent sees their own children, and the driver and vehicle assigned to them. A driver sees the children assigned to their own trips and the contact details needed to reach their parents. A school administrator sees the parents, drivers, vehicles, and students belonging to that school. Platform administrators can reach records across schools in order to operate and support the service.

The public school directory deliberately excludes payment and contact fields, so browsing schools before registering does not expose a school's private details.

How long we keep it

Account and child records are kept for as long as the account is active. Vehicle positions reported during a trip are stored as a trail and are automatically deleted after 30 days; they are also removed immediately when the associated driver record is deleted. Trip history and administrative logs are retained while the account exists so that past journeys remain reviewable.

Deleting your account

The app does not currently include a self-service delete button. To have your account and its associated data removed, email support@skoolride.app from the address on your account, or ask your school administrator. Include the phone number registered to the account so that we can identify it. We will confirm the request and complete the deletion within 30 days.

Deleting a parent account removes that parent's children together with their pickup details and connection records. Deleting a driver account removes the driver's verification documents, vehicles, live position, and trip records. Deleting a school removes its administrators, drivers, students, vehicles, trips, and payment receipts. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

We may keep a minimal record where the law requires it, and administrative log entries may survive deletion in a form that no longer identifies the deleted account.

Your choices

You may ask us for a copy of the information held about you, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, or ask us to delete it, using the contact address below. Location sharing can be withdrawn at any time through your device's permission settings; withdrawing it stops live tracking, which means parents will no longer be able to follow trips in progress.

Security

Connections to our servers are encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored as hashes, sign-in attempts are rate limited, and access to records is restricted by role. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat children's information seriously and limit both what we collect and who can reach it.

Children

Skool Ride is used by adults — parents, drivers, and school staff. Children do not create accounts, do not sign in, and are not contacted through the service. Information about a child is entered by their parent or their school, and a parent may have it removed at any time through the process described above.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
